Figure 126.  This sagittal slice (on the lateral side of the olfactory recess) is from the same specimen in Figure 125.  The dense core of heavily and lightly labeled cells are part of the olfactory NEP and SVZ.  Most labeled cells are still in the NEP and SVZ, rather than in the surrounding parenchymal layers. This slice shows similar layers as the medial slice, only the AOB forms a larger “hump” in the dorsal bulb, and the AOB granule cell layer takes up more room.  In the MOB, the features of layers and labeling is nearly identical to the medial slice (Fig. 125).  Heavy label uptake in the olfactory epithelium shows very active proliferation, but the superficial and deep separation of labeled cells is only clear in some parts.
